Why Ashish Nehra Was Surprised With This Star Player Inclusion?

Team India had a flying start to their T20 series with a massive win over Sri Lanka in their 1st T20 game. Currently, Team India is leading the series with 1–0 and this is a huge positive for the side. We have seen some extraordinary performances from the young Ishan Kishan, Bhuvi, and Shreyas Iyer.

Star Indian players like Bumrah and Jadeja are back into the squad and they have played pretty well in their comeback game. Former India pacer Ashish Nehra was “surprised” to see Bumrah’s inclusion in the team for the series.

In a recent interview, Ashish Nehra said — “I am very surprised that Bumrah is playing in this three T20Is. Every player wants to play, no doubt, but we have two Tests following the T20I series. There are more matches to come. We have more options and other players need game time, as well as confidence,”

Indian senior players Nehra has also said Bumrah’s inclusion will affect other places who are trying to get a chance to play for the side in the international format and especially Bhuvi who is trying to find his form.

He also added — “We have talked about the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. You can give more game time to Mohammed Siraj; Avesh Khan has also played just one match so far. The moment Bumrah comes back, one of these players will have to miss out. So I’m surprised he (Bumrah) is playing here,”

Jasprit Bumrah has totally bowled 3 overs and conceded only 19 runs in the 1st T20I games against Sri Lanka. Team India has comfortably won the game with the help of Ishan Kishan’s 89 run knock. And Even Iyer has made a terrific half-century in the end and helped India to post a challenging total on the board.

Indian senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has given a great start to the 2nd innings by picking a wicket in the 1st ball itself. And then later on Venkatesh Iyer and Jadeja scalped a few important wickets and helped India for a comfortable win.
