T20 World Cup 2022: Virat Kohli becomes first player to score 4000 runs in T20Is
Star India batter Virat Kohli on Thursday 10th November became the first player to cross the 4000-run mark in T20I cricket history.
Kohli reached the landmark of his knock of 50 of 40 balls against England at Adelaide Oval in the second semifinals of the ICC T20 world cup. With this latest knock, Kohli has taken the title of 4000 runs in the ICC by scoring 4008 runs by playing 115 matches.
This was the Fourth fifty of Virat Kohli in the ongoing T20 World Cup and his 37th overall. Kohli turned 34 last week. He also scored a ton in the shortest format on an international level.

Rohit Sharma the Indian Skipper has 3853 runs in the format, also New Zealand veteran martin Guptill has 3531 runs in his part. From Pakistan Babar Azam has 3323 runs in his part. Last but not the least Paul Stirling 3181 runs from Ireland.
In the match, India posted 168 for 6 in the 20 overs, Team seems to thank Hardik Pandya for 63 runs and Kohli’s fifty. For England, the openers made it to the win through a good partnership. Also, left India struggling throughout the game. For England Chris Jordan picked up three wickets but was costly in his four overs giving 43 runs.
Earlier in the tournament Kohli also became the top run-getter in the shortest format, surpassing former Sri Lankan Cricketer Mahela Jayawardene’s 1061 runs.
Kohli has now scored 1141 runs in 25 T20 World Cup innings at an average of 81.50 and strike rate of 131.30. He has scored 14 fifties in the show-piece event, which is also the most by any player. Kolhi and Jayawardene are followed by former West Indies batter Chris Gayle (965 runs), India skipper Rohit Sharma (963 runs) and former Sri Lanka batter Tillakaratne Dilshan (897 runs) make up the top 5 run-getters in the T20 World Cups.
