Former Legendary Indian batsman, Sunil Gavaskar lauded India pace specialist Jasprit Bumrah after he cracked Sri Lanka’s framework with a stunning fifer on Day 2 of the current 2nd Test match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Bumrah acquired a considerable achievement in Test cricket in a wake of his outstanding bowling efficiency in the first innings. He matched the record of veteran all-rounder Kapil Dev, who had 8 five-wicket hauls across 29 Test matches.

Furthermore, Gavaskar has praised Jasprit Bumrah as a “successful bowler,” claiming that no batsman wants to face him particularly if they are well settled at the box. Simultaneously, the cricketer-turned-cricket commentator has noted two of the pacer’s distinct abilities, the expertise, and variation that can challenge any batsman.

Skillset and variety Bumrah has, no batsman can feel at ease: Gavaskar

“So much of skill, so much of ability, so much of belief in himself and he always wants to get better than yesterday. And that is why he has been so successful. He has got better and better every match. Yes again, it happens in every cricketer’s career, he might have the odd barren period, but he will be the bowler that the opposition batsman will not want to face,” said Sunil Gavaskar.

Jasprit Bumrah’s first five-wicket haul at home. While Sri Lanka was bowled out just for 109, he took the wickets of Kusal Mendis, Lahiru Thirimanne, Angelo Mathews, Niroshan Dickwella, and Lasith Embuldeniya. The 28-year-old ended with a score of 5/24.

“Under lights with the ball full pitched up like that and coming at a speed of 140kph, a little bit difficult sometimes for the batsman to pick. But during daylight, it might not be that difficult. But the skillset and variety he has no batsman can feel at ease. He has got this ability to get the batsman out when the batter is set” said added.

“With the new ball, you are expected to get the batter out because that is your strength as a bowler. It’s a hardball or a new ball, the ball will move in the air, and then it will seam after pitching, but when you get a batter out when he is set that tells you how good a bowler he is. And that is Jasprit Bumrah is.” he concluded.

India declared in the 2nd innings after scoring 303/9, relying on half-centuries from the middle-order combo of Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer to post the guests a massive objective of 447 runs. After losing openers Lahiru Thirimanne for a golden duck on Day 2, as the stumps for the emerge in, where Lankans at 28/1.
