Saurav Ganguly praises Virat Kohli for his amazing Asia Cup campaign
The right-handed batter appeared to have restored his lost form during the current Asia Cup 2022 competition with the help of his first T20I century and two fifty-sixes. Virat Kohli is now back in form.
A lot of people around the world have praised Virat for his performance in the Asia Cup T20 tournament, and the current president of the BCCI and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly was also very complimentary of Virat Kohli.
In the five games he played at the Asia Cup tournament in the United Arab Emirates, the right-handed batter scored 276 runs in total. Among the top run scorers in the competition, Virat is currently ranked first. With a strike rate of 147.59 and an average of 92.00, he scored 276 runs in total. He played his best T20I knock to date against Afghanistan on September 8, also going undefeated on two occasions in the tournament.
In a recent interview when asked about the similarities between him (Sourav Ganguly) and Virat, Ganguly stated that “The comparison should be in terms of skill as a player. I think he is more skillful than I am. We played in different generations, and we played a lot of cricket. I played in my generation, and he will continue playing, probably playing more games than I did. Currently, I have played more than he has, but he’ll get past that. He is tremendous.”
He further added that “Cricket has become a bit more hectic, busy. COVID for the last two seasons has made it even tougher because of quarantine and all that went on. But the rewards are good,”
When asked about his thoughts on the constant criticism Virat Kohli received from the media in the past few months, Ganguly replied saying “Everybody has been under media scrutiny. Just the names keep changing over a period of time. I won’t get to know half of it because I didn’t read so much. I would enter a hotel and the first thing I would say at the reception, ‘Boss, don’t put the newspaper under my door in the morning.’ But now, obviously, it’s a lot more; social media is on your computer and phone.”
Virat’s resurgence is encouraging for Indian cricket as he is anticipated to play a significant role in the T20 World Cup, which begins in Australia next month.
