India is all set to play along with the 5 Test match series vs England. The first match will be played in Nottingham where all the Indian batsmen will be ready for the seaming challenge of English players. This test series matters to bring the momentum for the WTC cycle of 2021–23 as it is the first series.

Despite many players are struggling against James Anderson and Stuart Broad. In context, VVS Laxman wants Indian batsmen to understand the pitch well and score some runs. He particularly wants Cheteshwar Pujara to perform well who is currently not on a good run.

Pujara was scored below-par scores in previous Australia and England series. He has set high standards in the previous year and everybody is aware of the ability he possesses while batting.

While doing that you post a very healthy total in the first innings: VVS Laxman

“There is no doubt that Pujara will be mindful of the lean patch he is going through, as far as scoring those big fifties or scoring those hundreds and you expect a lot from Pujara at the №3 position because that is a very important position along with both the openers,” said Laxman while being on a discussion with the media.

Laxman recalled the 2007 series which India last won in England. Rahul Dravid had a stellar series scoring 602 runs which helped India win the series. With subject to this, Laxman wants Pujara to repeat the heroics of Dravid which will help India win the series and he feels India will be unstoppable if Pujara gets in his form.

“In 2002 and 2007, the reason behind our victories on those two tours was because our top order and our №3 batsman, which was Rahul Dravid, they fired. Once the top order sets a very good foundation, it allows the middle-order batsmen to come and play their natural game and while doing that you post a very healthy total in the first innings and you are always dictating the terms,” added Laxman

Laxman later mentioned how Ajinkya Rahane is also struggling to play the short balls. He applauded how Rahane has performed well under conditions in the Lords, Melbourne, and South Africa tours.
