‘National Interest Of Foremost Importance’ Kapil Dev Says On Indo-Pak Series
Former Indian legendary player and World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev, has shared his thoughts on the India-Pakistan series. The star Indian cricketer has highlighted that the cricket series between the arch-rivals should indeed be decided by the government. It should be observed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has attempted to play a series versus India on multiple occasions. Good outcomes, on the other hand, have yet to develop.
Since 2012–13, the biggest rivals have not contested a bilateral series. The Men in Blue last played their counterparts at the 2021 T20 World Cup, when the Men in Green defeated India by 10 wickets. Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi was named player of the match for his outstanding bowling performance, after sacking 3 important wickets of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, and former captain Virat Kohli.
This has been hugely beneficial to the young cricketers: Kapil Dev
During an interview with reporters, the World Cup-winning skipper stated that sportsmen have always been ready for an India-Pakistan series, but that the choice should be left to the higher authorities.
“The Indian cricket board has placed a lot of importance on the infrastructure. This has been hugely beneficial to the young cricketers. The board has given facilities to players”, said Kapil Dev.
“My opinion is not important. What is the most important is the country’s policy, they should stand with their government’s policy. Only they can decide — National interest is of foremost importance when it comes to restarting bilateral cricketing relations with Pakistan,” Dev added.
The experience also stressed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has prioritized resources to provide exceptional conditions to talented youngsters, which has aided in their preparation for the vital stages.
It should be recalled that India will face Pakistan in a group stage encounter of the ICC T20 World Cup event on October 23 (Sunday) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The event will take place in Australia from October 16 to November 13 in 7 different cities, notably Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Hobart, Geelong, and Perth.
