Mohammad Saifuddin Is Doubtful For Home Series VS Pakistan

Bangladesh all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin is doubtful for the Tigers’ home series against Pakistan during November-December. Debashish Chowdhury, the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) chief medic, verified the report and informed that Saifuddin will need to relax for a month before starting his treatment.

Saifuddin, who was born in Chittagong, had already been forced out of the T20 World Cup 2021 because of backache. According to a team insider, the quick suffered from back pain on the left side following Bangladesh’s clash vs Sri Lanka on 24th October at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Saifuddin will start his rehabilitation program after some rest: Chowdhury

Saifuddin will now need another extended absence from international cricket. “He (Saifuddin) has a stress injury. After a month’s rest he will start his rehabilitation program,” Chowdhury said in an Interaction.

Bangladesh will host Pakistan for 3 Twenty20 Internationals and 2 Tests beginning November 19. The games will be held in Chattogram at the ‘Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium’ and in Dhaka at the ‘Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium’. The Tests are also part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021–23.

Saifuddin participated in 4 World Cup games for Bangladesh before being ruled out. Rubel Hossain, who was on the bench, was called in to substitute for the injured bowler. Rubel was recognized as a substitute by the World Cup’s Event Technical Committee.

“We will understand the gravity of his injury after he returns back to Bangladesh but since he cannot make a comeback in the tournament we opted for a replacement,” said Rabeed Imam, senior manager of media & communications of BCB.

Saifuddin took 5 wickets at an average rating of 7.00 in the World Cup and contributed 24 runs, including a 19-run knock versus PNG at Al Amerat. Since Saifuddin was forced out, Bangladesh named left-arm bowler Shoriful Islam to the lineup for the match versus England in Abu Dhabi on October 27.

Saifuddin has been suffering from back pain for quite some time. The youngster participated in the 2019 World Cup despite receiving painkillers, but he also skipped a few matches. He faced criticism after failing to make the mark during certain matches.
