Modern Day England opener Alex Hales
Cricket player Alexander Daniel Hales popularly known as Alex Hales was born in England on January 3, 1989. He presently competes in the white ball, and limited overs formats for Nottinghamshire and the England cricket team as a right-handed opening batsman. In August 2014, he played his first One Day International against India, and in December 2015, he played his first Test against South Africa. Hales is the first English player to record a century in a T20I game. Additionally, he is the first hitter to be out for 99 in both an ODI and a T20I.
At the tender age of 16, he made his first significant impression by scoring 52 runs off one over and finished unbeaten on 114 while participating in the London County Cricket Club’s Founders Day at Lord’s in 2005. He was signed by Nottinghamshire three years later, and he enjoyed a respectable summer of limited-overs cricket. He scored 150 runs against Worcestershire in the Pro40 match in 2009, using 102 balls.
Hales was raised in Buckinghamshire and was educated at Westbrook Hay School and Chesham High School, which is now Chesham Grammar School. He was born in Hillingdon.
In a limited overs league match between Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St. Peter, his father Gary established various local records for batting (including going 321 not out), and his grandpa Dennis was an accomplished tennis player who once forced Rod Laver to play five sets at Wimbledon.
Hales was a member of the 2008 England Under-19 team that visited New Zealand and scored three half-centuries. He then played for the England Lions throughout the full 2011 summer after being a member of the English Performance group from 2009–2010.
Alex Hales is currently playing in the T20 World Cup in Australia where his side faced India in the Semi-final where he played a match-winning innings to help England reach the final.
