Newcomers in the Richest T20 League in the World

The franchise cricket team Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) is headquartered in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. In the Indian Premier League, they compete (IPL). In 2021, the Lucknow franchise was founded.

Its main owner is Sanjeev Goenka. KL Rahul serves as the team’s captain, and Andy Flower is the head coach. Gautam Gambhir is the team’s coach. The Lucknow Super Giants made the playoffs in their first season.

The RPSG Group, which held the Rising Pune Supergiant franchise from 2016 to 2017, is the team’s owner. It is anticipated that this squad will host its games at Lucknow’s BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium.

How the name Lucknow Super Giants came up

After its owners revealed the name preferred by its supporters, the Lucknow franchise of the Indian Premier League will be known as Lucknow Super Giants. The RPSG Group-owned Lucknow official IPL franchise chose to solicit feedback from its supporters.

On January 3, the franchise owners started a social media campaign to engage users in choosing the name of the new IPL team.

As the lucrative T20 game grew to include 10 teams, Lucknow and Ahmedabad will be the IPL’s two new teams as of this season. In the previous IPL, KL Rahul served as the franchise’s captain.

The Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium serves as the team’s home field. Ekana Cricket Stadium was renamed to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in memory of the late Indian Prime Minister. It was founded in that year. It is a public-private collaboration stadium. History of Lucknow Super Giants

In August 2021, the Indian Premier League’s Governing Council published a request for proposals for the acquisition of two new teams. There were a total of 22 companies that expressed interest, but only six were serious bidders due to the new teams’ high base price.

A group of three businesses or people were allowed to submit a joint offer for each franchise by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. With a bid of 7,090 crores, the RPSG Group, which is headed by Sanjiv Goenka, was awarded the right to manage the Lucknow franchise.

First Season of Lucknow

LSG finished third in the table during its inaugural IPL season, qualifying them for the playoffs. They were eliminated by Royal Challengers Bangalore, who were in fourth place, in the Eliminator Match.
