CSK experienced 4 successive setbacks as they entered the IPL 2022, and they did not enjoy a promising start to the competition. We backed ourselves and that’s why we got the results: Theekshana

He removed RCB captain Faf du Plessis, Anuj Rawat, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Suyash Prabhudessai in CSK’s maiden win in the ongoing competition. The 21-year-old discussed his views in a video published by the firm. He was particularly ecstatic to get a strike against one of his favorite batsmen, Faf du Plessis.

“I felt great to be in the game. Because we lost four consecutive games, I am actually happy that we won our first game and got our first two points. We got a huge score on the board. We just went for dot balls and we knew that they were going to attack”, said Maheesh Theekshana.

“We backed ourselves and that’s why we got the results. It was my first IPL wicket, and it was one of my favorite batters (Faf du Plessis). I was told by the coaches and the players that I was going to get wickets today. And I am really happy,” he added.

In terms of play, CSK was given the opportunity to bat first. After a sluggish start in the powerplay, they managed to score only 60 runs in the first 10 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Once it appeared like RCB had the greater chance in the game, CSK batsmen Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube ramped up and guided the side to a massive total of 216/4.

The RCB’s middle-order hitters gave it their all during the pursuit, however, Theekshana and captain Ravindra Jadeja partnered for 7 wickets to leave RCB wrapping and secure them their first victory in the IPL 2022.
