ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan Rejects India’s Request to Relocate 2025 Champions Trophy Matches
PCB Refuses to Shift India’s Matches to the UAE, Seeks Clarification from ICC
Pakistan has been selected as the host nation for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. In preparation for the tournament, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has designated several venues, including Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, to accommodate the matches. Notably, all encounters involving the Indian cricket team are scheduled to take place in Lahore.
Given the sensitivity of the political situation between India and Pakistan, the PCB has proposed that India return to their home country immediately after each match. This arrangement reflects ongoing concerns and logistical considerations.
However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refused to send their team to Pakistan due to various factors, including security and diplomatic issues. Consequently, the BCCI has formally requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to relocate all of India’s matches to the UAE, a neutral venue that could ensure both teams’ safety and comfort during the tournament.
So, Pakistan has rejected India’s request to move the 2025 Champions Trophy games to Dubai, insisting that the tournament should be hosted in Pakistan as scheduled. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that they will not relocate any matches and has asked the ICC for clarification on India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan.
Pakistan has reportedly rejected India’s request to move the 2025 Champions Trophy games to Dubai. Pakistan wants to host the tournament as planned. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has stated that they will not shift any matches and has asked the ICC for an explanation regarding India’s decision not to travel to Pakistan.
On this Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) official said on condition of anonymity “We have been told by our government not to move any game out of Pakistan, and that will be our stand when the time comes. Right now, the ICC has just informed us about India’s decision. We have the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy so there is no way we can move the games outside Pakistan.” Quote by The Indian Express.
