ICC Announce T20 World Cup 2021 Complete Schedule

The 7th Edition of the T20 World cup is just months away and the men’s tournament is scheduled from 17th October 2021 to 14th November 2021. All the matches will be played in UAE and Oman. It will be played in UAE and Oman across four venues – Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground.

The tournament was supposedly condemned originally in India but the Covid-19 situation in India got worse after April 2021 and over 2 lakh cases were noted in a day. The tournament got shifted to UAE where the covid situation is better than other countries. Also, the UAE has similar playing conditions as India.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah On Selecting Oman As The Venue

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has decided that Oman is one of the hosts and they’ll be allowed to host 6 matches in total.

“I am particularly delighted to be in Oman. As a major force in world cricket, the BCCI has always endeavoured to promote and assist Associate Nations. In my capacity as Asian Cricket Council President, my vision is to take cricket far and deep into Asia.“Co-hosting the World Cup will put Oman Cricket on the global stage. They are also playing the Qualifiers and it will be the icing on the cake if they make it to the Super 12s,” the BCCI secretary was quoted as saying.

Teams In Each group of Super 12

In Group 1 of Super 12, West Indies, England, Australia and South Africa have qualified and they’ll be joined by the winner of Group A and runner-up of Group B from Round 1 of qualification.

Group 2 will include India and Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan along with the winner of Group B and runner-up of Group A from Round 1 qualification.

Since the T20 World cup is postponed for a year, we’ll be having another T20 World Cup next year around. Previously, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England and West Indies have won the tournament.

There is no calm among fans after ICC announced that both neighbouring nations are in the same group. India and Pakistan will be playing. We’ll watch a high voltage game between both rivals on October 24, 2021.

India, England and West Indies are currently favourites to win the tournament and as they have all the match-winners in the squad. Players have the ability to change the momentum of the game in their favour. The First Super 12 match will be played between Australia and South Africa on 23rd October.
