Ishan Pranav Kumar Pandey Kishan popularly known as Ishan Kishan, an international cricketer from India who was born on July 18, 1998, bats as the wicket-keeper for the Indian cricket team. In March 2021, he played his first match for his country against England.

He competes for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League and Jharkhand in domestic cricket (IPL). He is an opening left-handed batter. India’s team for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup was led by him. when his team came in second place to West Indies.

First Limelight

Kishan, a left-handed opener, gained notoriety after he was chosen to captain the India under-19s at the u-19 World Cup in Dhaka in 2016. In a competition where Rishabh Pant lit up the scoring charts, despite a lacklustre batsman performance (73 runs in six innings).

He led India to the finals. He was able to quickly reverse his fortunes, though, and finished the domestic Ranji season as Jharkhand’s top run-scorer with 799 runs. This includes the highest score by a Jharkhand batsman to date a career-best 273 against Delhi.

International Career

On March 14, 2021, against England, he played in his first T20I for India and scored 56 runs off 32 before being stopped by Adil Rashid. Kishan was declared the game’s MVP as India went on to win by a score of seven wickets.

He was included in the Indian team for both the Twenty20 International (T20I) and One Day International (ODI) matches against Sri Lanka in June 2021. On July 18, 2021, he made his ODI debut for India against Sri Lanka, scoring 59 from 42 balls. Kishan was chosen for the Indian team to compete in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2021.

In the second of three One Day Internationals (ODI) against South Africa in October 2022, Kishan scored 93 runs, a career-high.

IPL Career

Gujarat Lions purchased Ishan in the 2016 IPL auction. In the 2018 IPL auction, the Mumbai Indians purchased him. With 516 runs from 14 games for the Mumbai Indians in the 2020 IPL, he was the team’s leading run-scorer. He also took home the season’s most sixes accolade.

Ishan, who was purchased by the Mumbai Indians for the 2022 IPL, was the second-most expensive Indian player at the auction, behind Yuvraj Singh, after being purchased for 15.25 crores. Ishan, while not being able to live up to his price tag in the 2022 IPL, is still promising potential for the Mumbai Indians in upcoming IPLs.
