Eoin Morgan Willing To Compete In The T20 World Cup 2022
Eoin Morgan wishes to compete in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Morgan appears to be among the most accomplished captains in the game’s shortest format. The English limited-overs captain has achieved the most outings as a T20I captain. Clinching 43 victories which include, the current 2021 T20 World Cup, he eclipsed MS Dhoni and Asghar Afghan becoming the most prolific T20I captain.
He also captained England to the finals of the last T20 WC in 2016. England performed well in this year’s event but fell short of the mark, reaching the semi-finals only to be eliminated by New Zealand.
Despite defeating England in the 2021 T20 World Cup semi-finals, New Zealand was finally able to revenge their 2019 ODI World Cup failure. Following Daryl Mitchell’s undefeated 72, the Kiwis ended up chasing 167 with an over to play, therefore eliminating England’s chances of winning the competition. This time, it was the English captain Morgan who was on the receiver side.
I am incredibly proud to be their leader: Morgan
Following their failure, he was asked if he wanted to continue leading the team, to which Morgan replied, “I hope so”. “I am still offering enough within the side. I absolutely love playing cricket at the moment,” said the 35-year-old.
“The guys give absolutely everything and are always looking to get better. They are at the forefront of change both on and off the field. I am incredibly proud to be their leader.” Morgan said after England’s heartbreaking loss at Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
Even though Morgan has been an incredible player for England in the short formats, his recent performances have been terrible to admit. In 2021, he is averaging merely 16.66. So even though he had stated before the beginning of the T20 World Cup that if his terrible form prolonged, he would drop out. It remains to be seen whether Morgan resumes his previous form and tries to regain his missing form.
