BCCI has to answer: Anurag Thakur, Union Sports Minister, on India’s participation in cricket at the Asian Games
The debate was reignited by Afridi when the second season of the aforementioned league was about to start. In a news conference, he was questioned by a reporter about whether he had any advice for the BCCI, which is accused of interfering with the KPL’s operations the previous year. Afridi said, “My only message to BCCI is that the KPL 2 is occurring,”
Remember that Afridi has already expressed his views on Kashmir and even Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The globe is sick by a horrible disease, but what’s more harmful is in Modi’s heart and head,” he once warned.
To demonstrate his “solidarity with the Kashmiris,” he also travelled to the LoC in 2020. The Indian government has already decided to repeal Article 370 of the Indian Constitution.
Indian cricket was not played at the Asian Games, and when India Today questioned this, Thakur merely responded, “BCCI has to answer.”
A decision on whether to send men’s and women’s teams to the Asian Games in Hangzhou would be made later and dependent on our current obligations, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah was reported as saying earlier this year.
“The BCCI has consistently supported member boards and assisted them through trying times. The board is adamant about upholding its bilateral agreements.”
